Clarke County High School HOSA
Submitted by: Lauren McCabe, HOSA President Date: 01/15/2009
School: Clarke County High School
The Clarke County High School HOSA has been busy this year. In September, we welcomed new members, elected officers and planned our activities for the year. Our first community service project was to educate the school regarding transmission of cold and flu germs. We also made handwashing posters for the school.
In November, we had our first fundraiser of the year. We sold pies for Thanksgiving to raise money to pay for HOSA stoles for our graduating seniors.
We had another fundraiser in December. One of our parents led a group in making snowmen for sale, and it was a very successful project. We used part of the proceeds to participate in an Angel Child program. We purchased a bicycle, helmet and clothes for a 9 year old girl for Christmas. We had our holiday feast in December, and stuffed ourselves.
On January 16, HOSA will host and organize an American Red Cross blood drive, and we will have another blood drive in April. These two blood drives have become annual events for HOSA.
In February and March, we will conduct blood pressure clinics for the staff and students.
